Accomodation
There are multiple kind of accomodation in Louvain-la-Neuve. Either you choose a kot, a KAP, a studio, a private house, and more.
A kot is a room inside a shared accomodation of 2 up to 10, sometimes even 18 or 32 rooms. They also have commons areas like a kitchen, a living room, toilets, showers… What is the difference with a flatsharing ? Each room has a sink, that’s all! A kot can belong to the university (UCLogement) or to private agencies (Eckelmans for instance).
Agencies tend to make one year contracts, while UCL offers semester or ten months contracts. Most of us make the choice of a UCL accomodation (the cheapest, even monthly) which are a Kot or a KAP.
The amenities and the furnitures are the same, but a Kot doesn’t lead a project while a KAP does. KAP means Kot à Projets. There are 80 KAPs in Louvain-La-Neuve and they feed the student life by organizing (a lot of) events. By serving the university with their relevant project to it, KAP tend to be the cheapest way to accomodate someone. However, KAPs also require involved people.
